PLEASE CHECK OUT THE LATEST NEWS FROM OPPOSE BLACKMAINS IN THE NEWS SECTION. Enertrag has just announced that they will be going to planning in Autumn 2012 with only three turbines instead of seven, But the genus of the campaign continues as it is still THREE TOO MANY. The campaign group Oppose Blackmains is a group of committed individuals who believe that the scenic beauty of the Borders is in danger of being obliterated by the march of onshore wind farm developments in the area. Since June 2011, 14 wind turbines have been erected within a 4 mile radius of Coldingham, Ayton and Reston. Another 13 turbines are now being built at Drone Hill which will bring the total to 27 wind turbines in the area, in less than 12 months. Why Oppose Blackmains? We believe that the proposed development by Enertrag of 125 metre wind turbines at a site known as Blackmains is the tipping point. When we launched this campaign in September 2011 our contention was that Blackmains represented a new move by developers, who having targeted sparsely populated landscapes, were now targeting rich arable, lowland sites within 750 metres of residential communities. If we did not oppose this development we believed it will open the floodgates for similar applications. We have already been proved right. There is a new proposed development at Hornburn of ten 115 metre turbines, across the A1 from Blackmains, between Ayton and Reston. ON 9th April 2012 THE SBC PLANNING COMMITTEE TURN DOWN HORN BURN MET MAST – THIS IS A LANDMARK DECISION AS THIS IS THE FIRST REFUSAL OF A 60M OR HIGHER MAST IN THE LAST FOUR YEARS. ENERGIEKONTOR ARE APPEALING THE DECISION– PLEASE keep letting the councillors and developers know that we do not want any more wind farms.
